CMS has recruited finance expert Christopher Whiteley as a partner in Hong Kong from Ashurst, where he spent 15 years. At his new firm, Whiteley will help establish a capital markets and derivatives practice.

A specialist in structured finance, particularly OTC derivative transactions, Whiteley advises financial institutions in hedging, trading activities and strategic and funding transactions.

Whiteley joined Ashurst in 2006 after a four-year in-house stint at JP Morgan. At the start of his career, he worked for nine years at Allen & Overy in London, Paris and Hong Kong.
