U.S. law firm Cooley is planning to open an office in Singapore after hiring Ferish Patel from Gunderson Dettmer, where he led the firm’s presence in the city-state.

Patel will join Cooley in its Hong Kong office, which the firm launched in May. The Hong Kong office operates in association with Cai, Lee & Partners, and recently hired capital markets lawyer Michael Yu as a partner from Sidley Austin.

Patel advises high-growth technology companies at all stages of their life cycle, including through exit. He began his career at Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in New York, and later practiced at Davis Polk & Wardwell.
