PRC law firm Han Kun has bolstered its capital markets practice in Hong Kong after hiring Alex Tao as a partner from Milbank.
With over 20 years of experience, Tao’s practice covers a full spectrum of international capital markets transactions, including high-yield, investment-grade and convertible bond offerings and initial public offerings in the United States and Hong Kong.
Tao joined Milbank in 2020 after spending more than three years as a partner at Allen & Overy (now A&O Shearman). Prior to that, Tao practiced for almost ten years at the New York and Hong Kong offices of Davis Polk & Wardwell.
After operating for 18 years, Milbank closed its Beijing office in December 2024. Han Kun’s addition of Tao comes after the Wall Street law firm’s Beijing closure.
In a press release, Han Kun said that Tao is expected to strengthen the firm's international capital markets practice, and his expertise, market reputation, and substantial experience in the space will further enhance the firm's ability to provide a full range of legal services to clients.
The new addition brings Han Kun’s Hong Kong lawyer count to 32.
