Hauzen, the Hong Kong association firm of the PRC's Anjie Broad Law Firm, has hired arbitration and insurance lawyer Caroline Thomas as a partner from local firm Hugill & Ip.

With over 15 years of expertise, Thomas specializes in dispute resolution and regulatory law across various sectors, including shipping and trade, insurance, energy, telecommunications, technology, pharmaceuticals, and construction.

Her practice encompasses advising on insurance regulations and regulatory matters, as well as handling the regulatory aspects of mergers and acquisitions, licensing, and other applications. Additionally, Thomas serves both as an arbitrator and counsel in international arbitrations, including investor-state arbitration.

Thomas joined private client boutique Hugill & Ip last year following a two-year stint at the Hong Kong Insurance Authority. She was previously a partner at Hill Dickinson, and worked at HFW and Clyde & Co.

"Caroline's joining marks a significant milestone for our firm. Her expertise aligns perfectly with the high standards our clients have come to expect from our firm and its partners. Her distinguished experience and reputation in insurance and arbitration complement our practice and those of our associated and affiliated firms,” Basil Hwang, managing partner of Hauzen, said in a statement.

Founded in 2017, Hauzen specialises in financial service regulation, contentious insurance and complex commercial matters and arbitration. With Thomas' addition, Hauzen's legal team now comprises 15 lawyers, including six partners, further strengthening the firm's capabilities in key practice areas.

Apart from the association with Anjie Broad, Hauzen also has an affiliation with UK firm DWF. The firm now has six partners, including Nickolas Sam, who was promoted earlier this year.
