U.S. law firm K&L Gates has hired debt capital markets specialist Jay Lee as a partner in Hong Kong from Simmons & Simmons.

Lee becomes the second partner to join K&L Gates’ capital markets practice in Hong Kong in a month. In October, the firm hired Iris Leung from Linklaters.

Lee advises financial institutions and corporations on debt and capital markets transactions, including bonds, equity-linked products, and asset-backed securities. He also advises on structured debt products, derivative transactions, mergers and acquisitions and other corporate and finance matters. Lee’s key clients include global, regional, and PRC financial institutions, private equity, asset management, and alternative asset management companies and corporates.

His hire will take the number of partners at K&L Gates’ Hong Kong office to 18.
