Offshore law firm Ogier has appointed investment funds and digital assets expert Dennis Li as a partner in Hong Kong from rival Travers Thorp Alberga, where he was a counsel.

Li specializes in fund formation and digital assets. His expertise spans various fund types, including hedge funds, private equity, real estate, and cryptocurrency funds.

Li's appointment comes as Ogier seeks to expands its presence in the region's fast-evolving virtual asset landscape. He will advise on token issuance, decentralized autonomous organizations, and regulatory compliance in the Cayman Islands and British Virgin Islands.

Prior to joining Travers Thorp Alberga in 2022, Li held in-house positions at CCB International (Holdings) Limited and Huobi Technology Holdings Limited. He has also worked at Simmons & Simmons and offshore firm Walkers.

“Dennis is a fantastic addition to our growing Investment Funds team in Hong Kong and will add particular strength and depth for us on the digital assets side of our practice," said Nicholas Plowman, Ogier's head of investment funds in Asia, in a statement.

Ogier now has 16 partners in Hong Kong, including restructuring and insolvency expert Joanne Collett, who joined from Walkers earlier this year.
