DLA Piper has brought on board projects and energy expert Peter Armstrong as a partner Tokyo from Japan’s Nishimura & Asahi (N&A).

With more than 14 years of experience in cross-border transactions, joint ventures and projects, Armstrong advises Japanese and global entities with focus on renewable energy projects, including onshore and offshore wind power, solar, biomass and geothermal power projects, both in Japan and abroad.

Armstrong was at N&A in Tokyo for more than four years, becoming a foreign law partner in 2020. Previously, he worked for another Japanese Big Five firm, Nagashima Ohno & Tsunematsu, for more than seven years. Earlier in his career he was at Baker McKenzie and Canadian firm Fasken.

The addition of Armstrong has taken the number of DLA Piper partners in Tokyo to six.
