Offshore law firm Conyers Dill & Pearman has advised Qatar Reinsurance (Qatar Re), Qatar Insurance Company’s reinsurance subsidiary, on re-domiciling to Bermuda.

Following regulatory approvals, Qatar Re was granted a Class 4 licence from the Bermuda Monetary Authority. As part of the re-domiciling, Qatar Re’s capitalisation will increase to approximately $500 million, according to a company statement.

Conyer’s Bermuda corporate partner Michael Frith advised Qatar Re on its re-domiciliation.

Recently, Qatar Re’s Dubai branch was granted a licence to operate in and from the Dubai International Financial Centre by the Dubai Financial Services Authority.
