U.S. law firm K&L Gates has brought in Iris Leung as a corporate partner to bolster its capital markets offering in Hong Kong. Leung joins from Linklaters, where she worked for nearly seven years.
Leung has expertise in corporate and capital markets deals, public listings, private equity, and venture capital investments. In August, Leung led the Linklaters team advising China Tourism Group Duty Free Corporation on its $2.1 billion listing in Hong Kong, the city’s largest share sale so far this year.
Having begun her career at Baker McKenzie in 2005, Leung had an eight-year stint at Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, before joining Linklaters in 2015.
Leung’s hire takes the number of partners at K&L Gates’ Hong Kong office to 17. Last year it lost two capital markets partners – Guiping Lu and Philip Hyde – to Mayer Brown.
Meanwhile, Leung’s departure marks another capital markets exit in Hong Kong for Linklaters, which saw partners Gilbert Li and Iris Yeung move to Allen & Overy in June.
