Singaporean boutique Tang Thomas has separated from Wee Swee Teow (WST) less than two years after the two firms merged, with partners Cynthia Tang (L) and Raj Joshua Thomas exiting along with three associates.
WST, one of Singapore’s oldest law firms, merged with Tang Thomas in June 2022. Following that, Tang headed WST’s corporate practice, while Thomas co-headed WST’s dispute resolution team.
Following the split, Tang Thomas has entered into an association with German law firm Thummel Shutze & Partners, which has a four-decade history in Singapore. “Tang Thomas LLC is focused on regulatory and corporate advice and commercial litigation. Our association with Thummel Shutze & Partners enhances our ability to take on complex corporate and cross-jurisdictional matters,” said Thomas in a LinkedIn post.
With 20 years of experience, Tang advises on general corporate, M&A, data protection and family trusts. Before co-founding Tang Thomas in 2020, she worked as an in-house counsel at Italian pharmaceutical company Menarini Group, and was at local firm Kelvin Chia Partnership.
Thomas advises local and multinational corporations, charity organisations and affluent individuals on disputes, compliance and data protection. He is also a nominated member of Singapore’s parliament.
Joining Tang and Thomas in the move are senior associates Vigneesh Nainar and Sujesh Anandan, and associate Alexandra Toh.
