Boston-headquartered law firm Brown Rudnick has signed collaboration agreements with two UAE law firms, namely Hikmat Fayad & Associates and Walid Nasser & Associates.

Vietnamese law firm VILAF has named senior partner, Dang Duong Anh as the new managing partner of the firm’s Hanoi office, succeeding Tran Tuan Phong. Tran had been office managing partner since 2006.

Private-client specialist law firm Withers has entered into a Formal Law Alliance (FLA) with Singapore’s KhattarWong. The FLA, which comes into effect in April, will see the firms form “Withers KhattarWong,” and the entire KhattarWong partnership will also become partners at Withers.

Canary Wharf owner Songbird Estates dropped its opposition to a $4 billion (3 billion pound) Qatari-led bid on Wednesday, saying the group now had the backing of the holders of at least 86 percent of the shares.

Estranged brothers Cyril and Shardul Shroff have decided to split the 98-year-old Indian law firm Amarchand Mangaldas into two new firms, each controlling one of the legacy firm's Mumbai and Delhi regions, according to a report in Indian newspaper Economic Times. The split is expected to come into effect on April 1.
