The 17th ALB Southeast Asia Law Awards celebrated the work done by leading law firms, in-house teams and individuals in the region in a virtual event that was held on Oct. 21.

Allen & Gledhill claimed nine awards, including SE Asia Law Firm of the Year, Singapore Law Firm of the Year, Singapore Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year, and Rising Law Firm of the Year (for Allen & Gledhill Myanmar).

Meanwhile, Drew & Napier, which was named as the Singapore Litigation Law Firm of the Year, also won key individual awards, including Dealmaker of the Year for Julian Kwek), Cavinder Bull SC as Dispute Resolution Lawyer of the Year, Foo Yuet Min as Young Lawyer of the Year.

Baker McKenzie was named Thailand Law Firm of the year, while Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer was awarded Deal Firm of the Year. Davinder Singh Chambers claimed Dispute Resolution Boutique Law Firm of the Year, while the Vietnam Law Firm of the Year went to Vilaf.

In the individual categories, Tilleke & Gibbins’ Tiziana Sucharitkul was awarded Managing Partner of the Year (Emerging Markets), while Martin Green of Stephenson Harwood was the named Managing Partner of the Year (Singapore). Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer’s Georgia Dawson and Koh Swee Yen of WongPartnership shared the title of Woman Lawyer of the Year (Law Firm).

In the in-house categories, Lazada claimed three awards including Innovative In-House Team of the Year, while GIC was the winner of SE Asia In-House Team of the Year. Meanwhile, Nanyang Technological University’s Gregory Chew was the In-House Lawyer of the Year, Millicent Desiderio-Dime of Accenture Philippines was named Woman Lawyer of the Year (In-House) and Land Transport Authority of Singapore’s Nicholas Poa won Young Lawyer of the Year (In-House).
