In her opening address, Amantha Chia, senior director of Thomson Reuters’ Legal Media Group, said she was excited to “celebrate the extraordinary achievements of the Philippines’ leading law firms, in-house teams, and lawyers.” “In this celebration this evening, we will present 36 awards to individuals and team whose exceptional service distinguishes them from the crowd,” she added. Quisumbing Torres won the prestigious Philippine Law Firm of the Year award, along with the Technology, Media, and Telecommunications Law Firm of the Year award, and the Woman Lawyer of the Year award (for Divina Pastora Ilas-Panganiban). “My sincere appreciation goes to Quisumbing Torres for creating an environment where every person has a right to be authentic, to be respected, and to be fully engaged,” Ilas-Panganiban said. Meanwhile, Cruz Marcelo & Tenefrancia won awards in five categories: Data Privacy and Protection Law Firm of the Year, Intellectual Property Law Firm of the Year, Litigation Law Firm of the Year, Philippine Deal Firm of the Year, and the Tax and Trusts Law Firm of the Year. Another prestigious award, that of Managing Partner of the Year, went to Sylvette Y. Tankiang of Villaraza & Angangco. The firm received three other awards: Antitrust and Competition Law Firm of the Year, the Construction and Real Estate Law Firm of the Year, and Projects and Infrastructure Law Firm of the Year. “While I am humbled to receive this recognition, individuals do not bring in results alone.
