This year, ALB received 837 entries from 202 law firms and in-house teams. Enthusiasm was evident across categories such as Young Lawyer of the Year, Woman Lawyer of the Year, Managing Partner of the Year, and other individual categories, with a total of 223 individual nominations. “This fervour underscores the profound depth of talent and expertise that defines our profession,” stated Amantha Chia, Senior Director of Thomson Reuters Legal Media Group, during her welcome address, adding that the high interest from Indian legal professionals “stands testament to the vibrant spirit and relentless pursuit of excellence within our legal community.” AZB & Partners topped the list of winners, securing five awards including the prestigious India Law Firm of the Year award. “Fintech and financial services continue to play an important part in the M&A landscape and there are more cross-border transactions than seen earlier. Another growing area is the compliance & investigation practice. Private Equity has started to become much more active and the Korean and Taiwan corridor with India is also gaining significant traction,” said Zia Mody, Co-Founder and Managing Partner, sharing her market outlook. Cyril Shroff of Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas was honoured as the Managing Partner of the Year.
