What would you say are your key traits as a corporate / M&A lawyer? One of the key traits to succeed as a corporate / M&A lawyer is a fundamental client service ethic and being constantly aware of our clients’ expectations during the various deal stages. In delivering our services, I focus on responsiveness, collaboration with all teams of advisers, and active discussions and getting all parties to common ground. How would you describe your experience being part of the CMS team? CMS continues to establish itself in the region and I am excited by the prospects of being part of its growth and culture. Our technology, media, telco, life-sciences, financial services, energy and resources sectors are inherent strengths for our corporate practice and where we can add value beyond pure deal delivery (along with that critical subjectmatter overlay on regional cross-border deals). We cover the core ASEAN markets and are very active in several of these, in particular, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam and The Philippines. I also love the team’s approach to our early-stage programme (equIP) and scale-up clients, working with them on bright ideas, being accessible, and fostering growth and innovation in the tech sector. Our VC clients also can see the value that offers to themselves as investors and also their portfolio companies. I see the value and positive experience of being part of our clients’ success.
