40 ASIAN LEGAL BUSINESS CHINA • 亚洲法律杂志-中国版 SEPTEMBER 2024 ALB SHANGHAI IN-HOUSE LEGAL SUMMIT 2024 On August 15, 2024, the 20th ALB Shanghai In-house Legal Summit was successfully held at the Ritz-Carlton Pudong, Shanghai. The summit brought together over a hundred senior legal experts and corporate executives from various industries in Shanghai and its surrounding areas, as well as Southeast Asia and the Middle East and North Africa. Nearly twenty speakers engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on hot topics. The summit officially began at 9:30 am. The first discussion session focused on “Corporate Compliance and Business Practices from an ESG Perspective,” moderated by Bao Fangzhou, Senior Partner at AllBright Law Offices, with guest speakers including Huang Hong, General Counsel for Building Materials Business in Asia Pacific at Owens Corning, and Yang Nan, Regional General Counsel for APAC at Solenis. Following this, an exciting fireside chat took place, with Hu Yangxiaoxiao, Legal Editor of ALB China at Thomson Reuters, conversing with Jonathan Noble, Partner at AMERELLER, on the topic of “Investment in the Middle East.” Jonathan provided insights into the close economic and trade exchanges between China and the Middle East, especially the UAE, over the past two years. He advised Chinese clients to conduct thorough due diligence and be vigilant against fraud, and analyzed Saudi Arabia’s increasing openness and the interactions between Chinese enterprises and other regions in the Middle East. After the tea break, the summit welcomed two experts from AllBright Law Offices: Senior Partner Li Yun and Senior Partner Wang Weibin. Li delivered a speech on “New Trends in Securities Compliance and False Statement Liability Disputes.” He dissected the triple meanings of securities, and provided a detailed introduction to false statement liability.
