Korean Big Six law firm Yoon & Yang has welcomed back construction and arbitration lawyer Joseph Lee as a partner from Pinsent Masons. It looks to expand its international construction advisory and international arbitration practices.

Lee, who has a stint at Yoon & Yang between 2013 and 2014, spent the last eight years working in Qatar with Pinsent Masons and K&L Gates, where he represented construction contractors in international arbitrations at ICC, LCIA, DIFC and QICCA. He also has in-house experience with construction and engineering giant Samsung C&T.

Lee’s notable recent work includes advising a Korean contractor joint venture in relation to the Karbala Oil refinery plant in Iraq, including preparing the strategic roadmap, claims documentation and various other papers so that the JV could successfully negotiate a contract amendment for an additional $1.5 billion with a state entity there.

A statement from Yoon & Yang said that "Lee would be able to help Korean construction companies aggressively reach out to the overseas construction market,” according to managing partner Junsang Lee.
