Bayfront Law, Nishimura & Asahi’s alliance firm in Singapore, has recruited Paras Lalwani as its head of international arbitration from Drew & Napier, where he was a director.

With more than 14 years of experience, Lalwani advises on international arbitration, investigations and arbitration-related litigation with a particular focus on the technology sector. Lalwani is an arbiter of SIAC, HKIAC and THAC, and also acts as a prosecutor on behalf of the Law Society of Singapore in disciplinary matters. His notable cases include representing a successful appellant in a jurisdictional challenge to an arbitral tribunal before the Singapore Court of Appeal, in which issues relating to approbation and reprobation of an arbitration agreement was disputed.

Lalwani had two stints at Drew in total, joining the firm first in 2009, and then again in 2019 as a director. Between 2012 and 2019, he worked at Dentons Rodyk and K&L Gates. In 2022, he was named as one of the Asian Legal Business Singapore Rising Stars.

Nishimura entered into a Singapore formal law alliance with Bayfront in 2020, becoming the first Japanese firm to do so. Led by managing director Kesavan Nair, Bayfront currently has 10 directors.
