Indian law firm J. Sagar Associates has continued its aggressive expansion in 2024 by adding another disputes team, this time a four-lawyer group from IndusLaw in Delhi led by partner Padmaja Kaul.

Kaul has around 14 years of experience advising domestic and international clients in commercial disputes, particularly involving contentious exits, shareholder disputes, insolvency, winding up, white collar crimes and employment disputes and investigations.

Kaul has also worked extensively in the telecom sector, advising various telecom giants in their disputes with shareholders and vendors in the telecom industry.

Her team joining JSA includes principal associate Yugank Goel, senior associate Kushagra Sah, and associate Vansh Bhutani.

JSA has been attracting a lot of high-profile partners from across the legal market, including M&A giant Iqbal Khan who joined with a team of 20 last month. A four-member disputes team from Krishnamurthy & Co joined the firm in Mumbai, while real estate lawyer Brijita Prakash joined JSA along with seven-lawyers from DSK Legal in Bengaluru.

Sources say JSA’s partnership terms – both financial and operational, meritocratic setup, and strategic independence is driving more partners to it, especially from closely held and/or family-run law firms.
