Singapore-based law firm Fervent Chambers has announced significant leadership changes, with the appointment of William Wan (L) as managing director and the return of Clarence Lun as head of dispute resolution and international arbitration.
Wan joins Fervent Chambers to spearhead the firm's expansion and growth efforts. With a diverse background in legal and mediation practices, he brings extensive experience in handling multinational anti-corruption matters, land reversion claims, and oppression of minority and defamation cases. Wan's three-decade tenure in North America and the Indochina region is expected to bolster the firm's ability to serve both local and international clients.
Lun, rejoining Fervent Chambers, will strengthen the firm's disputes practice. His expertise lies in high-value shipping, oil and gas, engineering, construction, and infrastructure project disputes. He has also advised liquidators and judicial managers on complex financial matters.
Lun's notable achievements include defending a billionaire against a S$208 million ($155 million) claim from a Chinese bank and successfully setting aside a multi-million-dollar arbitration award for an Indian commodities company at both the High Court and Court of Appeal levels. Additionally, Lun has made significant contributions to advancing the law on litigation funding based on the sale of proceeds on clawback claims when acting in the S$107 million liquidation of real estate developer Castlewood Group.
A boutique litigation and corporate firm founded in 2020, Fervent Chambers now has five lawyers.
