Norton Rose Fulbright has entered into a formal law alliance (FLA) in Singapore with local dispute resolution boutique Ascendant Legal, enhancing its local law offerings.

The combined entity will be known as Norton Rose Fulbright Ascendant. It will expand NRF’s current offerings to include litigation and arbitration, financial restructuring and regulatory, and investigations.

NRF, the tenth largest law firm in Singapore according to the ALB Top 50 for 2018, currently has 67 lawyers in the city-state, including 19 partners. The firm opened its Singapore office in 1982 and received a Qualified Foreign Law Practice licence in 2009.

Ascendant Legal, led by managing director Chew Kei-Jin, was set up in 2016. It has one other director - Chuan Tat Yeo, who earlier spent six years at NRF.

International law firm Broadfield, which was set up in July last year, has established an office in Hong Kong after hiring three lawyers from Sidley Austin, led by Effie Vasilopoulos, who headed the APAC investment funds group at the latter firm.
