Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher has represented U.S. oil company Murphy Oil Corp in the $2 billion sale of 30 prcent of Murphy’s Malaysian oil and gas assets to Indonesian state-oil company Pertamina, which was counseled by Ashurst.

The Gibson Dunn team advising Murphy Oil and its subsidiaries, Murphy Sabah Oil and Murphy Sarawak Oil, was led by Singapore partner Brad Roach, who was assisted by New York tax partner Jeff Trinklein.

Pertamina was represented by energy partner Daniel Reinbott and corporate partner Keith McGuire of Ashurst’s Singapore office.

According to Reuters, Arkansas-based Murphy Oil has interests in Malaysia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Brunei and Australia. It is seeking to cut overseas holdings to focus on an improving home market.

Indian law firm Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co. and international law firm Herbert Smith Freehills have advised Jubilant Bhartia Group on its agreement with The Coca-Cola Company to acquire a 40 percent stake in Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings for over $1 billion.
