Mayer Brown JSM has hired Brian McKenna in Hong Kong as a corporate partner from Debevoise & Plimpton, where he was an international counsel.

McKenna represents private equity sponsors, financial institutions and fund managers on corporate and investment transactions in both New York and Hong Kong across a wide range of industries, including insurance, financial services and TMT.

At Debevoise, where McKenna worked for more than a decade, he was involved in several deals related to AIG, including its sale of a $1.2 billion stake in PICC Property and Casualty in 2016.

“With robust activity in the region, and an increase in both inbound and outbound transactions, Brian’s arrival significantly enhances our ability to serve our clients’ increasingly complex needs,” said Jason Elder, global co-leader of Mayer Brown’s corporate and securities practice, in a statement.

Mayer Brown is one of the largest firms in Hong Kong, with about 189 lawyers, including more than 60 partners. The firm was ranked No. 2 in the ALB Top 50 largest law firms 2017 ranking for Hong Kong. Debevoise has 36 lawyers in its Hong Kong office, 12 of whom are partners.
