UK firm Mishcon de Reya has hired disputes specialist Gavin Margetson as a partner in its recently opened Singapore office. He joins from local boutique Sharpe & Jagger.

Margetson, who spent more than 16 years at Herbert Smith Freehills at the start of his career, was also that firm’s head of dispute resolution for Thailand for a while. In 2017, he moved to Bryan Cave Leighton Paisner for a nearly two-year stint, and had been at Sharpe & Jagger for close to a year prior to this move.  Margetson focuses on cross-border litigation and corporate crime and investigations.

Mishcon established its Singapore office in May, a rare opening for an international law firm in Asia during a year in which the pandemic has impacted legal work across the board. Margetson becomes the office’s third partner, and eighth lawyer overall.

Sharpe & Jagger is a boutique firm specialising in dispute resolution. It was set up last year by Samuel Sharpe, formerly of Duane Morris & Selvam, and Justyn Jagger, who was previously with Morgan Lewis Stamford.
