Karas, UK law firm Mishcon de Reya’s association firm in Hong Kong, has hired a disputes team in Hong Kong led by partner Jonathan Mok. Mok was most recently running his own practice.

Karas, founded by veteran litigator Jason Karas, entered into an association with Mishcon as it established its Hong Kong presence in September last year. This was Mishcon’s second outpost in Asia, following the launch of its Singapore presence in 2020.

Mok, a long-time partner at Mayer Brown, left that firm in 2017 after 22 years to run his independent law firm, which entered into an association with London-headquartered Charles Russell Speechlys as it entered Hong Kong.

With roughly 30 years of experience, Mok mainly advises private clients on family disputes including beneficial interests in assets. He also acts for companies and international banks on investigations from law enforcement authorities.

His addition will take the number of partners at Karas to five.
