UK law firm Hill Dickinson has added veteran maritime disputes attorney Gerald Yee as a partner in Singapore from RPC Premier Law, RPC’s joint law venture firm in the city-state.

Yee’s hire comes at a time when Hill Dickinson has been expanding its maritime practice across the region. Recently, the firm added an eight-lawyer team from Ince Hong Kong.

Yee’s practice focuses on shipping, maritime insurance, commodities, and oil and gas disputes. These include admiralty enforcement, cargo claims, oil and gas disputes for oil majors, contracts of affreightment, marine insurance and P&I matters. He also has experience in marine restructuring and insolvency matters.

Yee had been a partner at RPC Premier Law since 2019, prior to which he was a partner at Clyde & Co Classis Singapore, and led the shipping practice group at Singapore firm Colin Ng & Partners (now CNPLaw). Earlier, he was a Shanghai-based partner at Ince & Co, and a partner at Singapore’s Joseph Tan Jude Benny.

“The latest hires into our Hong Kong and Singapore teams add considerable bench strength to the marine and shipping expertise we already offer to clients across Asia Pacific, as well as broadening our range of legal services,” said Tony Goldsmith, head of Hill Dickinson’s marine services practice.

Yee’s hire makes it six Singapore-based partners for Hill Dickinson, which also saw the departure of the head of its Asia regulatory practice, Jonathan Goacher, to Stephenson Harwood in May.
