Pallavi Banerjee, most recently executive director and senior legal counsel at Goldman Sachs, is moving back to law firm practice as a banking and finance partner in Indian law firm Trilegal’s Mumbai office.

She becomes Trilegal’s first partner hire this year, after the firm added a notable 16 partners in 2023.

Banerjee was previously a counsel at Trilegal for four months, before joining Goldman Sachs in December 2021. She spent the early part of her career at J. Sagar Associates, which she left as a partner in July 2021.

Banerjee specialises in banking and finance transactions with a focus on private debt, stressed assets, debt financing and structured debt products. She has “now been on both sides of the fence, having worked in-house for a marquee institution as well as for top-tier law firms, and that type of hybrid experience is invaluable. She will add significantly to execution capabilities on a broad range of financing transactions at Trilegal,” partner Kannan Rahul said in a statement.

Trilegal now has 117 partners across its offices.
