Vietnamese law firm Frasers Law Company has hired Gwendoline Yi-Quin (Gwen) Brooker, an energy lawyer with extensive experience at majors Total and ExxonMobil, as a partner in its Hanoi office.

Brooker’s nearly four decades of experience in transactional work in the oil and gas industry spans upstream to refining and chemical, marketing, and, latterly, renewables. Her 23 years at Total included being general counsel and legal vice president for exploration and production (E&P) in the Asia-Pacific region, and an earlier stint as general counsel and VP legal affairs for Total’s E&P division in Indonesia.

Brooker has spent the past six years working on high-value international arbitrations and ADR spanning from institutional mediations and to participating in settlement negotiations. Latterly, her work expanded into emerging energy transition issues with a focus on ESG regulations related to climate change and defamation.

“Gwen’s immense international experience in the energy sector, particularly with respect to dispute resolution, is a significant boost to our firm’s bench strength. Our clients will definitely benefit from her 35+ years of transactional and disputes experience with two of the world’s largest energy companies,” said Mark Fraser, managing partner at Frasers Law Company, in a statement.

With the arrival of Brooker, Frasers has four partners. She will be based in Hanoi as the firm expands its office in the Vietnamese capital.
