JSA Advocates & Solicitors has extended its extensive inorganic growth spree by adding capital markets expert Anuj Pethia from Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas as a partner in New Delhi.

The country’s capital markets have been one of the lucrative practice areas for Indian law firms in the last two years, as more companies than ever look to access public finance, given strong returns, comparative stability and an ongoing private capital funding winter.

Pethia, who gave up his partnership at CAM in 2021 to take up a consultant role at the firm, has over 15 years of experience advising on domestic and cross-border capital markets deals.

He recently advised on the landmark Ola Electric IPO, and the public offerings of RR Kabel, Rainbow Children Hospital and SBI Cards. He has also acted on various qualified institutions placements, further public offerings, rights issues and preferential issues by leading listed companies such as Tata Steel, Jindal Steel and Power, Axis Bank, Yes Bank, Hindalco, Tata Motors, PVR, Zydus Wellness, Route Mobile and PDS.

Pethia has been also involved in various cross-border listings and advised on various GDR programs including that of Tata Motors, Axis Bank, Tata Power, and Grasim and has been acknowledged for his contributions to the SEBI expert committee’s report on direct foreign listings.

JSA’s strong hiring policy in 2024 has included large group hires to its infrastructure, antitrust, M&A, disputes, and real estate practice.

CAM has had to rebuild its capital markets practice this year, with a 60-member team from IndusLaw, following the departures of practice leader for South India Vijay Parthasarathi and partner Vinay Sirohia to Trilegal.  Large parts of their teams, while not moving directly with the lead partners, also found new homes. Partner Abhinav Kumar left to join Talwar Thakore & Associates, while Rohit Tiwari moved to Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas & Co.
