Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India has continued its expansion in the southern part of the country after absorbing Bengaluru litigation boutique Aishwarya AnanthKumar and Partners.

Firm head Aishwarya AnanthKumar, who will join Luthra as a partner, has over 12 years of disputes experience before the High Court of Karnataka, National Company Law Tribunal, Bengaluru, and various other courts in the region. She also handles matters of insolvency and restructuring before the NCLT Bengaluru Bench.

She has also been a standing counsel for various state government departments, with experience in leading litigation across the state of Karnataka, specifically for the Karnataka Industrial Area Development Board, Karnataka Slum Development Board, Bangalore Development Authority, and Bangalore Waste Water and Sewerage Board.

Earlier in her career, AnanthKumar was an associate at J. Sagar Associates for six years, where she gained experience in handling corporate commercial litigations and arbitrations, shareholder and investor disputes, and court-ordained mergers and demergers.

The merger comes some months after Luthra combined with Atlas Law in August last year. The firm has also been aggressively expanding its presence in South India, opening a new Chennai office and adding a team in Hyderabad earlier this year.

“With this merger, opening of the Chennai office and addition of a new team in Hyderabad, Luthra and Luthra Law Offices India now has a very prominent presence in South India and has paved the way for expanding its operations in this region,” said Harry Chawla, Luthra and Luthra’s managing partner, in a statement.
