Four lawyers, including two directors, of Singapore law firm Kalco Law have left to launch a disputes-focused boutique in the city called Fortress Law.
The new firm, which focuses on civil and commercial disputes, criminal defence litigation, insolvency and family law work, will be led by directors James Ow Young, Trent Ng and Mark Yeo.
Ow Young became a director at Kalco in 2019 and specialises in criminal law. He has worked on drug, property-related, white-collar, sexual, hurt and traffic offences, including drunk driving, inconsiderate driving, and driving while under disqualification.
Ow Young also advises multinationals on corruption matters and regulatory offences.
Ng became director in 2020 and has experience in civil and criminal litigation, personal and corporate insolvency, and family law matters.
Yeo was an associate director at Kalco with a criminal defence background. He specialises in violent offences and sexual offences. He also has criminal prosecution experience, spending three years in the crime division of the Singapore attorney general’s office before joining Kalco.
Singapore has recently seen several disputes-focused boutiques launch, including Chua & Partners, Setia Law and Dunbar & Lim Chambers.
