Elan Krishna, a former partner at Cavenagh Law, the Singapore Formal Law Alliance (FLA) firm of Clifford Chance, has joined local outfit Oon & Bazul to strengthen its dispute resolution practice.

With a focus on international arbitration, Krishna handles high-value and complex matters, particularly those involving allegations of fraud, corruption, or illegality. He also specializes in disputes in the aviation and logistics sectors.

Krishna currently serves as a board member of the ICDR's Young & International Group, and as a committee member of the Law Society of Singapore's International Relations Committee. He had been at Clifford Chance and Cavenagh Law since 2012, after beginning his career at Big Four firm Drew & Napier.

Krishna’s hire comes as Oon & Bazul reports an increase in high-value instructions amid growing geopolitical tensions leading to more complex commercial disputes.

“Elan's extensive experience in high-value, complex disputes and international arbitration will be a strong complement to our team,” said Bazul Ashhab, managing partner and head of the dispute resolution practice at Oon & Bazul, in a statement. “His arrival adds to the number of our senior lawyers, as we continue delivering the exceptional quality of work our clients expect.”

Oon & Bazul now has 18 partners. About a month ago, the firm hired restructuring and insolvency expert Lye Yu Min as a partner from Rajah & Tann, where he was a senior associate.
