Clyde & Co has added partners Sidanth Rajagopal and Rhys Lewis in its Dubai office, and Ross Barfoot in Abu Dhabi, apart from promoting Robert Lawrence to partner in Dubai, as it looks to strengthen its Middle East offering.

Aviation finance specialist Rajagopal joins from the New Delhi office of Clyde’s Indian “best friend” Clasis Law. Focusing on financing, leasing and purchasing of aircraft and engines, he has developed a significant client base providing finance and non-contentious advice to airlines across the commercial aircraft and corporate jet sectors.

Corporate partner Lewis joins from Holman Fenwick & Willan in Dubai. He has more than 15 years of expertise in the defence and security sectors, having acted for international security organisations and defence contractors across the Middle East and North Africa region. His practice spans mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, consortium bids and strategic finance.

Barfoot, also a corporate partner, joins from Trowers & Hamlins in Abu Dhabi. He has spent the last five years in the region advising both international and regional corporates on a mix of corporate advisory, M&A, private equity, restructuring, corporate governance and joint venture work, with a focus on the energy, media and education sectors.

Lawrence, who specialises in shipping and international trade, joined the firm in 2006. His clients include owners and charterers of vessels, as well as insurers to the marine industry.
