Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld has hired oil and gas lawyer Paul Greening from Vinson & Elkins as a partner in the firm’s Hong Kong office.

Greening advises state-owned and private oil and gas companies, project developers and private equity firms on energy-related M&A, oil and gas, utilities, infrastructure and energy projects.

Previously a senior associate at Vinson & Elkins in Hong Kong, Greening will join Akin Gump’s Hong Kong office on July 20, and is expected to relocate to the firm’s Singapore office before the end of the year.

“There is a very strong demand across Asia right now, particularly Southeast Asia, for the oil and gas industry knowledge that Paul possesses, and I am thrilled to welcome him to the team,” said Gregory Puff, Akin Gump’s Asia head, in a statement.
