Allen & Overy has hired former Vilaf managing partner Tran Anh Duc as head of its Hanoi branch and co-head of its banking and corporate practices in Vietnam.

Tran, who has more than 18 years of experience in corporate and banking work, has focused on large-scale power projects and debt and equity capital market issuances. He will co-head the banking and corporate practices alongside Adam Moncrieff, who relocated to Vietnam from Allen and Overy's Tokyo office, and Allen & Overy's Vietnam Managing Partner Dao Nguyen.

“The combination of our on-the-ground team together with the addition of Duc will put Allen & Overy in an unique position when competing in this market,” said Nguyen in a statement. “We are highly ambitious and we believe Duc's appointment will help us to achieve top tier recognition across all our core practice areas.”

Tran’s addition takes Allen & Overy’s Vietnam team to 18 lawyers across its Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City offices. The firm launched its Vietnam offices in the summer of last year.
