Magic Circle firm Allen & Overy has bolstered its funds and asset management offering in Asia by hiring Tiffany Toh as a partner in Singapore.

Toh was previously an associate at the Hong Kong office of U.S. firm Simpson Thacher & Bartlett . She also spent five years at Dechert’s Singapore office after leaving Baker McKenzie Wong & Leow, where Toh was on the tax team for nearly four years.

Toh is experienced in advising private fund sponsors and institutional investors on private fund matters, including fundraising and fund formation, GP and LP-led secondary transactions, co-investments, internal arrangements, spin-outs and regulatory compliance. She represents sponsors across various asset classes, with a particular focus on private equity, venture capital, real estate, and credit.

James Ford, co-head of A&O’s APAC Funds and Asset Management group, is confident that Toh’s addition will boost the UK firm’s “market-leading capabilities in the region” and the “firm-wide strategy” to grow its private capital offering, he said in a statement put out by the firm.

A&O, which has upped the ante to crack the lucrative U.S. legal market by a merger with Sherman & Sterling, has also been expanding in Asia. In May, the firm poached M&A partners Kenny Kwan and Caryn Ng from Baker McKenzie in Singapore.

A&O’s Singapore office now has 78 lawyers, including 19 partners.
