Hunton & Williams has hired disputes lawyer Apichart Phankeasorn as the head of its Thai litigation practice from Herbert Smith Freehills. He will be based in Bangkok.

Apichart has handled banking, commercial and employment lawsuits, as well as white-collar criminal lawsuits in a variety of Thai courts. Prior to joining Herbert Smith Freehills, he was a partner with Mayer Brown JSM in Bangkok for 12 years.

“We look forward to working with Khun Apichart to build on the rising level of dispute resolution, arbitration and litigation the Bangkok office is handling,” said Edward Koehler, managing partner of Hunton & Williams’ Asia-Pacific offices, in a statement. “His 20-plus years of legal experience will continue to improve our already strong practice in these areas, and significantly help us to expand our white-collar criminal defence practice and employment law practice.”

The Bangkok office recently hired partner Chinawat Assavapokee from Baker & McKenzie.
