Berwin Leighton Paisner has hired Andrew MacGeoch to head its Asia real estate, hospitality and leisure practice – set to be launched in Hong Kong later this year – from Mayer Brown JSM.

MacGeoch, who led Mayer Brown’s hospitality and leisure practice in Asia, has dealt with infrastructure developments and mixed-use projects. He represents developers, owners, institutional investors, governments and statutory corporations, and is best known for his work across Hong Kong, Macau, mainland China, Vietnam and Thailand. He was part of the Mayer Brown team that advised the sale of hotel InterContinental Hong Kong to a consortium of investors for $938 million in 2015.

“I’ve watched with interest as BLP has replicated and expanded its market-leading real estate sector expertise from the UK to Germany, Russia and the Middle East. Asia is the natural next step and I’m looking forward to supporting the team here and on a global scale,” said MacGeoch in a statement.

BLP has been bolstering its global real estate and infrastructure capability, particularly in Asia. In 2015, the firm acquired Haley & Co, a local construction and arbitration boutique firm in Hong Kong.
