DLA Piper’s Singapore office has hired Erwin Purba as a special counsel from media operator Astro, as it looks to further develop its practice in Indonesia and Southeast Asia.

With more than 17 years of experience in Southeast Asia, Purba’s principal practice areas include telecommunications, media and information technology (TMT) & broadcasting, including regulatory work in the TMT sector. He also has transactional experience in the areas of foreign investment, joint ventures, and M&As, both in Indonesia and in the Asia-Pacific region.

"Indonesia is a critical part of our Southeast Asia strategy. Erwin's arrival provides a substantial boost to our Indonesia credentials as well as our regional TMT offering," said Matt Glynn, Singapore country managing partner and Asia head of intellectual property and technology of DLA Piper, in a statement.
