DLA Piper has appointed Doug Murning as a partner in its finance and projects practice from Kirkland & Ellis.

Murning will be part of the leverage finance team and is expected to initially divide his time between Hong Kong and London. He will work closely with the restructuring practice to advise multi-strategy funds that require restructuring, finance and corporate legal advice in special situations and distressed transactions.

During his six-year stint at Kirkland, Murning advised a number of financing transactions, including advising a consortium on the $9.3 billion acquisition of NYSE-listed Qihoo360 Technology in 2015.

DLA Piper also hired Phil Crump from Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher to lead the London leverage finance team.
