U.S. firm Hughes Hubbard & Reed has hired Paul S. Marston as a counsel and head of the firm’s Tokyo office from Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman. Marston will be Hughes Hubbard’s only lawyer in the Japanese capital.
The firm did not have any lawyer in Tokyo for the past three months after losing counsel Tony Andriotis to U.S. dispute resolution firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, which he joined as a partner.
Marston joined Pillsbury from Mitsui Oil Exploration where he was a general counsel. During his stint there, he was responsible for managing complex litigation relating to the Macondo oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico. Previously, he was a counsel at Bingham McCutchen and an associate at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe.
