Mayer Brown JSM has appointed Nicholas Chan as a partner in the Hong Kong office’s corporate and securities team.

Previously a partner at Sidley Austin’s corporate finance group, Chan specialises in corporate finance transactions, including IPOs and general compliance work. He has represented issuers and underwriters on listings on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange, as well as on a variety of other transactions.

Chan’s hire comes as Mayer Brown is boosting its capabilities in Hong Kong to focus on China-based clients. “Nicholas’ knowledge of Hong Kong’s IPO market and other corporate finance products is also expected to enhance our recent association with Jingtian & Gongcheng, a leading Chinese firm in connection with capital markets practice transactions for issuers from mainland China,” said corporate and securities partner Jacqueline Chiu, in a statement.
