Withers has welcomed back private client and tax attorney Laurence Ho as a partner in its Hong Kong office from Loeb & Loeb.
Ho previously worked at Withers until 2017, when he joined Stephenson Harwood, before moving to Loeb & Loeb in 2020. He brings with him a team that includes a special counsel, a senior associate, and an associate.
Ho works with individuals and families with a connection to the U.S. on international tax, trust and estate planning matters. He assists family offices, estates and fiduciaries on matters involving personal estate and succession planning, tax-efficient structuring of U.S. and non-U.S. trusts and holding companies, U.S. real estate investments, tax planning ahead of moving to or leaving the U.S., and post-mortem planning for international probate matters.
He also advises U.S. individuals and families on their tax compliance and foreign financial asset reporting obligations.
“I am very much looking forward to working with Laurence again,” said Katie Graves, regional divisional leader of the APAC private client and tax team at Withers, in a statement. “The addition of his team to our firm will further solidify our position as the largest private client team in Hong Kong with the ability to advise on HK, U.S. and UK tax matters.”
The addition of Ho and his team brings Withers' Asia-based U.S. tax practice to 15 fee-earners, including five partners, spread across offices in Hong Kong, Singapore, and Tokyo.
