Withers has hired investment funds expert Simon Wong as a partner in Hong Kong from Dentons, where he was head of the private funds practice.

Wong becomes Withers’ second lateral partner hire in Hong Kong this year, following the addition of aviation specialist Paul Jebely in January. The office also lost two family law partners: Rita Ku and Sharon Ser departed to set up boutique firm Rita Ku & Ser.

With nearly 12 years of experience, Wong advises investors and family offices on private equity, credit, real estate, infrastructure, venture capital, hedge funds, crypto assets and RMB-USD funds. He also supports clients with financial regulations and other legal issues applicable to investment managers.

Before joining Dentons in 2020, Wong worked at Minter Ellison, Dechert and K&L Gates. He also has in-house experience with BNP Paribas Investment Partners and Legg Mason.

His addition has taken the number of Withers partners in Hong Kong to 14.
