Hynes Lawyers has appointed former chief operating officer of DibbsBarker as its new CEO.

Angela Vidler, who has worked with legal and accountancy firms including DibbsBarker, Mallesons and PWC for more than 12 years, has taken the helm of 15-year-old Hynes Lawyers.

Vidler’s aim in her new role is to significantly increase the firm’s market share within the next five years. She said the legal services sector was undergoing significant reform to meet the higher expectations of clients – both in-house counsel and business executives. “Legal firms are being transformed, and those who don’t will not continue to grow,” said Vidler. “Clients want to know how their law firm can help them reduce their legal expenses. Entrepreneurial firms are responding to that need, which is why I have joined Hynes Lawyers.”

Vidler said Hynes Lawyers five-year growth projections would be achieved by growing their flexible workforce. In addition to their core team of full-time lawyers, Hynes Lawyers is attracting individuals who were looking for challenging work while juggling work and family life commitments, as well as senior practitioners working in specialty legal areas who wanted a more flexible way of working.  “Many of our consulting specialists have been partners at large firms but no longer want to work as

full-time partners in a gruelling corporate firm,” she said. “Our flexible workforce allows our clients to access very senior specialists who work in a niche area of law at a reasonable cost.”

Hynes Lawyers is a commercial law firm based in Brisbane and Sydney.
