Jones Day has boosted its private equity practice with the hire of Scott Peterman in the firm’s Hong Kong office.

Peterman specialises in fund formation, and advises private sponsors and investors on the establishment of private equity funds, hedge funds and real estate funds.

He also advises on corporate and commercial transactions, ranging from M&A and capital markets, to debt and equity restructurings and regulatory issues.

Peterman joins Jones Day from Sidley Austin, where he was a partner in the firm’s Hong Kong office.

With the addition of Peterman, Jones Day now has 20 partners based in its Hong Kong office.

Jones Day has strengthened its offices in Asia in recent months, hiring intellectual property partner Shogo Asaji in Tokyo, and recruiting competition law expert Xue Qiang from China’s National Development and Reform Commission as an Of Counsel in Beijing.
