Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) has poached TMT lawyer Asim Abbas from Shardul Amarchand Mangaldas (SAM), and added competition law specialist Anshuman Sakle as a partner from Khaitan & Co, where he was a principal associate.

Abbas, a former SAM partner, has joined CAM in New Delhi as the head of the latter firm’s TMT practice. Abbas spent just over a year at SAM, which he joined after a five-year stint at Khaitan. His previous experience includes spells at J. Sagar Associates and Luthra & Luthra, as well as an in-house role with mobile operator Bharti Airtel, where he was a vice-president.

Sakle arrives at CAM shortly after the departure of Nisha Kaur Uberoi, the firm’s erstwhile national competition head, who left to join AZB & Partners. Sakle advises clients on issues related to market practice and market structures, and also on compliance aspects related to enforcement provisions of India’s Competition Act, 2002.

Meanwhile, Legally India has reported that CAM is relocating partner Anshuman Jaiswal from Mumbai to Hyderabad to replace office head Rahul Sarella, who recently exited the firm. The Hyderabad office is headed by Harita Rao.
