K&L Gates has hired Haig Oghigian as an international arbitration partner in its Tokyo office.

Oghigian was previously the co-chair of Baker & McKenzie’s Tokyo litigation and dispute resolution practice group.

Aside from arbitration, Oghigian also advises on corporate law for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. He has advised on M&A, joint ventures, licensing and distribution agreements and construction and engineering contracts.

He also counsels on corporate governance, compliance issues, technology transfer agreements, and other general commercial and trade law matters.

“His (Oghihan’s) cross-border arbitration capabilities and experience in the pharmaceutical and life sciences sectors in Japan nicely complement and enhance our Asia-Pacific regional practice in these areas and globally,” said David Tang, K&L Gates’ Asia managing partner, in a statement.
