K&L Gates has hired disputes expert Nicholas Watts from Herbert Smith Freehills in Singapore.

Watts, who concentrates his practice on commercial litigation, international arbitration and dispute resolution matters in Southeast Asia, has expertise in energy, infrastructure and resources. He also assists clients with regulatory issues, and provides advice on contract administration issues and contract terms to minimise and manage potential compliance issues and disputes.

Watts spent nearly 11 years with Freehills, as the firm was then called, of which five were spent in Asia. His experience in the region includes time spent in Indonesia, where he acquainted himself with the processes and procedures for dispute resolution in the country.
