Latham & Watkins has hired Catherine McBride as a contentious regulatory partner in its Hong Kong office from Deutsche Bank, where she was associate general counsel and the head of litigation and regulatory enforcement for North Asia.

McBride will be part of Latham’s white-collar defense and investigations practice, and the financial institutions group.  She has handled a wide range of regulatory matters, as well as regulatory, governmental and internal investigations.

Before Deutsche Bank, McBride was legal counsel at accounting firms KPMG in Hong Kong and EY in London. Prior to moving in-house, she was with Linklaters in London for almost a decade.

“We are committed to further developing our litigation and regulatory practice in Hong Kong,” said Josef Athanas, Latham’s Hong Kong office managing partner, in a statement. “Catherine has deep knowledge of the numerous regulatory players in Hong Kong and across the region and her years in the trenches have given her first-hand experience advising on a range of critical issues.”

Last year, Latham’s Hong Kong office hired Simon Hawkins from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he worked for 10 years, as a counsel in the non-contentious regulatory practice.
